Chapter 422: Chapter 415: Sacrificing the Younger Brother

“Xiaotang, you’re at work, the Dean is looking for you.”

“I’m still in school,” Tang Yuxin covered her face, she was really planning to go to school tomorrow, but she was called back again.

“No worries, you can consider this as an early internship,” the doctor joked with Tang Yuxin, then hurriedly led Tang Yuxin outside, “Let’s go, the Dean is waiting for you.”

Tang Yuxin looked back at the weak woman behind her, she didn’t know how she managed to get here on her own.

“Is she...?” The doctor thought she was a relative of Tang Yuxin.

Tang Yuxin shook her head, “I don’t know her, I met her outside.”

“I’ll have a nurse take care of her until her family arrives.”

That’s all they could do for now. Tang Yuxin nodded slightly and followed the doctor to the Dean’s office. Not long after, the screen on a large television in the conference room began to change continuously.

Tang Yuxin had already put on doctor’s gear, which included formal wear underneath and a white coat on the outside. Looking at the scenes on the TV, she was feeling genuinely distressed.

“Didn’t they say not to eat snake meat?”

Tang Yuxin asked confusedly, “On TV, in the news, in newspapers, and even on the internet, they’re constantly cautioning about the dangers of consuming certain things. Who would knowingly consume poison? Do people think their lives are too long or what?”

“Let’s go,” Tang Zhinian picked up his son and grabbed something else too.

The helicopter had landed in the outskirts of Li Tang Village, odd since there isn’t usually any available space for such a large machine to land.

People from the village were startled by the huge machine. They wondered what had occurred for their village to attract such a vast contraption. Most of the villagers, despite their age, had never seen a helicopter. They were even more shocked to see Tang Zhinian carrying Chengcheng, who was as thin as a monkey, into the helicopter. The loud roar of the helicopter took over as it departed, leaving the villagers staring blankly at the sky.

The Tang Family had really lucked out. Despite being humble farmers for generations, things were looking up. Tang Yuxin appeared on TV and received praise from many leaders. Even Tang Zhinian had received numerous gifts from city and provincial officials this year. They built several major buildings and refuted the saying that their family was dying out.

Tang Zhinian got married at almost 40 years old, to a beautiful wife, and had a three-year-old chubby son. Chengcheng was smart, sweet, and sounded like a little doll. Everywhere he went, he brought good luck. Chengcheng was bitten by a snake a few days ago and was not accepted by the hospital. People figured they were waiting for him to die.

However, he survived, even though he was a bit thinner. But the child was alive and well, proving the fortune he brought. Chengcheng was blessed, and maybe even protected by the gods.

At that moment, the boy that they referred to as ‘protected by the gods’, Chengcheng, was pressing his little paw against the helicopter window.

“Dad, look at the huge cotton candy!”

Tang Zhinian stroked his son’s little head and sighed. The helicopter was heading toward Beijing airport, and they would catch a plane to Beijing from there. He had taken many trips by plane and train due to his business trips, but it was Chengcheng’s first time. Last time, they rode the shaky train, but this time they were on a helicopter, a direct helicopter. Even if Tang Zhinian did nothing else in his lifetime, he’d be satisfied by this experience.

He really made his ancestors proud.

Chengcheng was excited, chattering away the entire trip. Tang Zhinian touched his son’s thin little face. He wasn’t chubby anymore. He felt something was off. Before, he could pinch his son’s chubby little face. Now, he was afraid that he would just be able to lift up a layer of skin if he tried to pinch his cheek.

There was no choice, Chengcheng was too thin now. The little arms and legs looked like matchsticks. If you were aware of his illness, you would know he was merely recovering. But to those who were unaware, they would think his parents were mistreating him.
